Bartlesville, Okla. — The Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team tipped off the new season with a battling 93-88 victory over Friends University at Mueller Sports Center on Tuesday night.
The No. 13 Eagles were led by senior point guard Devin Harris, who scored 25 points, four assists and four rebounds in 35 minutes on the court.
Harris shot 9 of 16 from the field for Oklahoma Wesleyan who went 50.8-percent from the floor.
Josh Young added 18 points and dished out four helpers, while Steven Cooks added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles, who outscored the Falcons 45-42 in the second half.
Joe Mitchell paced Friends University with a game high 38 points and nine rebounds, while adding three steals to his stats as well.
He got support from Colton Rausch, who had 26 points and Zach Nelson, who finished with 14 points and six assists in the defeat.
Oklahoma Wesleyan is ranked 13th in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll that was released on Tuesday.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday against Saint Mary (Kan.) at 3:00 pm.
