OKWU Baseball Announced 2014 Schedule

Bartlesville, Ok- 02 Oct 2013 – Matt Parker and the Oklahoma Wesleyan University baseball program would like to announce the baseball schedule release for the 2014 spring season.

The 2014 schedule offers a variety of opponents, including a trip to Nashville, Tennessee where OKWU will face off against NAIA Top 25 opponents in Cumberland University and Embry Riddle University in a midweek three way event. The Eagles are building off of 3 straight 30+ win seasons, they and look to add a another successful campaign to the resume in 2014.

The Eagles will open the 2014 season at home against Lyon College on January 31st. This will be a three game series with a single game at 2:00 pm on the 31st and a double header beginning at noon on February 1st at Doenges Memorial Stadium.

To open the midweek schedule, OKWU will travel to Bacone College in Muskogee on February 4th. This will be a single 9 inning contest, and Bacone will return the visit to OKWU on March 25 with a single game that will be played downtown at Doenges.

A new opponent added to the 2014 schedule is Arlington Baptist. The Eagles with host Arlington in a 3 game weekend set a Doenges beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 7th. Saturday will play host to a double header beginning at 12:00. The double header will also be held at Doenges.

On February 11th, the Eagles will travel to Wichita, Kansas to face off in the annual match up with Friends University. Friends will return the home and home contract with a visit to Doenges on February 18th at 2:00 pm.

Following the trip to Friends, the Eagles will square off with Kansas Wesleyan in another home series beginning February 14th at 2:00 pm. OKWU and KWU will meet again for a double header beginning at noon on Saturday.

After the midweek visit from Friends University, Hastings College from Nebraska will visit OKWU at 2:00pm on February 21st for a three game weekend set. The double header will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday. Following the weekend match-up with Hastings, the Eagles will travel to play nationally ranked Oklahoma City University in a single contest beginning at 3:00 pm.

OKWU will return home to finish the month of February and head into March with a 4 game weekend set with Concordia (Nebraska) on February 28th and March 1st. Both dates will play host to a double header that begin at 12:00 pm on both days.

After the weekend series with Concordia, OKWU will travel midweek to Mid-America Christian in Oklahoma City for a single 9 inning contest before returning home for a 4 game weekend set with Hillsdale Baptist College beginning 2:00 pm on March 7th. The Eagles will travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma to visit Oklahoma Baptist University in a midweek contest beginning at 6:00 pm on March 12th.

Following the visit to OBU, the Eagles will open up MCAC Conference play as they host Waldorf College. Waldorf will visit the Eagles from Forrest City, Iowa. All MCAC weekends consist of a 4 game set. The Eagles will host Waldorf at Doenges on March 14 beginning at 2:00 pm and again on March 15th beginning at 12:00 noon.

After the initial conference opening, the Eagles will board the buses and head to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Embry Riddle and Cumberland University at Cumberland University’s home field. The Eagles will face Embry Riddle at 6:00 pm on March 18th and Cumberland University at 2:00 pm on March 19th.

After the completion of the series, the Eagles will make their way back towards Oklahoma, stopping in Paraguld, Arkansas for a 4 game set against Crowley’s Ridge College beginning on March 21st at 1:00 pm.

On March 28th, conference rival Bellevue University comes to town for a 4 game MCAC match-up beginning with a Friday double header at 2:00 pm at Doenges Memorial Stadium. The Saturday double header against Bellevue will begin at 12:00 pm.

Following the set with Bellevue, OKWU will play host to NCAA transitioning Rogers State University. This will be a 7:00 pm match-up under the lights at Doenges to upon up the month of April.

For the conference weekend of April 4-5, the Eagles will travel to Point Lookout, Missouri to take on College of the Ozarks. The double header for Friday will begin at 3:00 and the Saturday double header will begin at 12:00 pm. After the meeting with College of the Ozarks, the Eagles will return home to face St. Gregory’s University beginning at 3:00 pm. OKWU will return the home favor to St. Gregory’s on April 22nd.

The next two conference weekends of April 11-12 and April 18-19 will see the Eagles hitting the road to face York College and then head to Conway, Arkansas to battle out Central Baptist College before the Eagles return home to face Central Christian College in the season and conference finale on April 25th and 26th.

The contest of the 25th will be at Doenges beginning at 4:00 pm. The MCAC conference tournament will begin April 30th. Site TBA.
