OKWU Men’s Basketball Beats Ozarks, Central Baptist To Open MCAC Play

Bartlesville, Okla. — The Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team opened its MCAC conference fixture with two wins on the road on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17 and 18.

On Friday at Point Lookout against arch rivals College of the Ozarks, Devin Harris scored 29 points, six assists and five rebounds in leading the Eagles to a narrow 80-78 victory.

Tyler Woods added 19 points and Steven Cooks had 14 rebounds and 12 points in the victory.

The Eagles jumped out to a convincing 22-8 lead, but the home side battled back to make it a contest, with Cameron Paschke and Alex Santiago each scoring 18 points in the defeat for Ozarks.

In the second conference game on Saturday, Oklahoma Wesleyan (12-6) brushed aside Central Baptist (Ark.) 74-59, with Josh Young leading the way with 19 points.

Phillip Jahn contributed 16 points, while Woods scored 12 and Harris finished with 10.

The Eagles are now 2-0 in conference play and will next face Haskell on Tuesday night (Jan. 21).
