Watts, OK-The Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s golf team under head coach T. J. Dickinson has signed Taylor Asbill (Watts, OK/Watts High School) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at OKWU beginning this fall.
Asbill recorded a 4th place finish in the 2013 Class 2A Oklahoma State Golf Tournament.
He was the top senior in the class, he earned Class 2A All-State honors, and he was selected to participate in the 2013 OJGT Hudiburg Auto Group Oklahoma’s Best High School Classic.
Taylor finished 15th in the Oklahoma’s Best High School Classic which showcases the top 15 finishers from each of the Oklahoma classifications state tournaments.
“Taylor is a fantastic signing for the Eagles 2013 recruiting class,” said Dickinson. “I have been fortunate to be around Taylor through the last two years of his high school career and have seen him develop into a technically gifted and extremely solid young man.
“Taylor had a great senior season at Watts where he capped of his high school career as an All-Stater.”
Asbill was fortunate enough to play high school golf for his father, Duane Asbill.
“We are very excited to have signed Taylor, a player with a massive amount of potential and a young man with a massive amount of character,” added Dickinson.
The Eagles return to campus in mid-August and will compete in their first tournament in early September.
