OKWU Softball bruised past Haskell in conference game

Bartlesville, OK — OKWU Softball picked up another 2 conference wins against Haskell Indian Nations University to improve to 15-8 on the season and 3-1 in conference.

In the first game, OKWU put up a ten spot in the 4th inning leading to a 12-0 win in a five inning game. The Eagles were led by Candace Perkins who was 3-4 with 5 RBIs, highlighted by her first collegiate home run in the 4th inning.

Jessica Farris and Courtney Gililland each had RBI doubles in the game where the Eagles had 12 hits. Kim Billie spread 4 hits in 4 innings of work taking the win for the Eagles and Katie Kelley finished the last inning with a strikeout.

In the second game, OKWU put up a run in every inning of the game. Perkins, Miranda Kiser, Macy Wright, and Jessica Farris all had multiple hits in the game. Allison Edwards laced her fourth homerun of the year in the sixth to extend the score to 7-2.

Jenna Daniel started the game giving up two earned runs in the top of the first on a Haskell home run but finished with 6 strikeouts. Courtney Carson finished the game recording four strikeouts of her home and allowing only 1 hit.

The Eagles are scheduled to continue MCAC play tomorrow at 2 and 4 against Central Christian College if the weather holds up.
