Bartlesville, OK — In exciting fashion, the Eagles took a pair of come from behind wins to improve to 5-4 on the season.
In the first game of the day, the Eagles batted around to score 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 6-3 lead against Sterling College.
The Warriors got on the board in the second with 3 runs on two hits and an error against starter Katie Kelley.
She was able to hold off another threat in the 4th, leaving the bases loaded but getting Megan Gilbreath to fly out to center field. Jenna Daniel took over in the fifth pitching 3 scoreless innings giving up just one hit.
In the second game, Miranda Kiser had a walk-off 3 RBI double to right center, lifting the Eagles over Ottawa 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh.
Leanne Salas lead off the inning with a walk followed by a single to left by Brittany Stevenot. Allison Edwards then reached on an error after laying down a sacrifice bunt. With the bases loaded, Kiser lifted a full count pitch to the wall for the win. Daniel picked up her second win of the day as she relieved starter Courtney Carson in the fifth.
The Braves runs came on a solo home run in the 4th by Mikayla Oliphant and an RBI single by Catherine Wallace in the fifth.
“Both wins came from a complete team effort” said head coach Caty Reeves.
“PItching, defense, and offense are all starting to sync through the entire game to put us in great positions to win ball games.”
The OKWU Lady Eagles will take the field again Tuesday against Dakota State University.
The games are set to start at 2 and 4 at the Lady Eagle Softball Complex before heading to Missouri Baptist and Greenville College the following weekend.
