Mayetta, KS – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagle Golf Team played its final tune-up for the MCAC Conference Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Haskell Invitational.
The tournament was contested on Firekeeper Golf Club. The Eagles would shoot 325 on day one of the tournament. That was good enough for 4th place behind two top 25 teams.
Cody Price would shoot the low round of the day to take a two shot lead into day 2. Price shot a 1-under 71. “Cody played very well today.
He was solid in all aspects, and we hope he can get a victory,” commented Head Coach T. J. Dickinson.
Other Eagle scores on day 1 included: Scott Seymour-81, Kyle Essary-83, Clayton Sikorski-90, and Curtis Johnson-93.
Price would shoot a 75 on day 2. He would be eclipsed by Ben Johnson from Bethany, who shot 73-70. Still, he would finish 2nd in a field that included 9 of the top 50 players in the NAIA.
“I could not be prouder of Cody. He had to stay patient, and he did just that. He is rounding into form, and we hope to have a fantastic week at conference next week.”
Other Eagle scores on day 2 were: Seymour-79, Sikorski-80, Essary-92, and Johnson-95.
“We still cannot put four good rounds together. If we do that next week, then we can compete with anybody,” Dickinson said.
