Women’s Basketball Fell 82-77 To Texas Wesleyan At Home

 

Bartlesville, Okla. — The No. 8 ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s basketball team fell to an 82-77 defeat to Texas Wesleyan University at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Eagles (1-1) were looking to add another victory to their opening night win over Friends University on Tuesday, but found the going tough after being outscored 41-38 and 41-39 in each half.

Kayla Morgan paced OKWU with 22 points, while Megan Jones added 16 points and eight rebounds in the defeat.

Also scoring in double figures for the Mark Molder coached team were Kayla Oleman, who finished with 13 points and seven rebounds and Kelsey Jones, 11 points and five boards in the defeat.

Takoia Larry led Texas Wesleyan with 21 points and eight rebounds and she was well supported by Toieasha Cooper, 17 points and eight boards and Caitlin Boal, who finished with 14 points and seven boards.

Oklahoma Wesleyan, who shot 26 of 78 from the field, were outscored 42-26 in the paint.

OKWU went 9 of 37 from three-pointers on 24.32-percent in the defeat.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Friday against Bethany (Kan.) when they start the first of three successive road games.
