Gene Hartman

Gene Hartman has served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at OKWU since March 2015.

Hartman, a native of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, attended OKWU as a student from 2005 to 2009. During his time on campus, he was a four-year basketball player and spent one year throwing javelin. He was a member of the 2009 Eagles squad that won the MCAC regular-season and tournament championships and would go on to win the NAIA National Championship.

At OKWU, Hartman has coached three NAIA Sweet 16 teams (2018, 2020, and 2021), two KCAC Tournament champions (2017 and 2020), and one KCAC regular season champions (2019).

Hartman and his wife, Allee, have one son, Oaks, and live in Dewey.
