Oklahoma Wesleyan University’s music department recently held its third annual Choral Camp. The camp is designed to help prepare junior high and high school students from all across Oklahoma for the All-State auditions that take place every fall.
The camp is in partnership with the OK Mozart Festival, who’s mission is to produce a multi-day festival with professional orchestra musicians, concert artists and musical performances of artistic excellence for an event with international significance. Ultimately bringing diverse culture to the Bartlesville area.
The participating students spend a majority of their 3 ½ days on campus in rehearsals learning the All-State sheet music and preparing for the Talent Show that takes place on the third night of camp. Several fun activities were planned, including a trip to see the Army Jazz Band. Another evening was spent at the Youth Canteen, where campers played in the game room, challenged one another on the basketball courts and took advantage of the movie theater.
The final event at this year’s Choral Camp was a concert where both the junior high and high school choirs, along with the first place winners of the Talent Show, performed for their families.
