On Saturday, May 9th, Oklahoma Wesleyan University will host its Spring 2015 Commencement Ceremonies in the Lyon Chapel Fine Arts Center at the Bartlesville Campus.

This year’s commencement speaker is Steve Largent, former NFL wide receiver and Oklahoma politician. Mr. Largent largent_headshotspent his 14-season professional football career with the Seattle Seahawks before serving in the US House of representatives for Oklahoma. A Tulsa, Oklahoma, native, Largent set several NFL records and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. As a member of the US House of Representatives, he spent his time working to represent the values of conservative Christians.

“We are honored to welcome Mr. Largent to help us celebrate our graduates and another great year for the university,” said Dr. Robert Herron, OKWU’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

OKWU holds two ceremonies on Saturday honoring graduates of both the campus, residential degree programs, as well as, the graduate degree and adult student undergraduates . “We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of our students,” noted Herron, “their potential for cultural impact is profound, and we look forward to watching that potential unfold.”
