Oklahoma Wesleyan University is excited to again participate in OK Mozart, Oklahoma’s premier music festival. The event runs June 6th-13th, marking the 259th anniversary of Wolfgang Mozart’s birth, and the 31st season of OK Mozart.
OKWU is well represented by staff, faculty, and alumni at OK Mozart. Former OKWU Vice President, Randy Thompson, is OKM’s executive director. Musical presentations and performances will be given by OKWU faculty and alumni; including Travis Dunlap, Jonathan Stewart, Marcia Hansen, Celeste Barrett, Rachel Hammon, and Wade Daniel. On Saturday, students from Everett Music Studio of Professor D’lynn Everett will perform at the Prairie Song Museum in Dewey. Other presentations during the festival will feature professors Mike Fullingim, Darek Jarmola, and Dan Wimberly. In addition, tours of La Quinta Mansion will be hosted on Oklahoma Wesleyan’s campus throughout the event. These will be on Tuesday, June 9 at 10:30 am and Thursday, June 11 at 3:30 pm.
Artistic Director, Constantine Kitsopoulos, welcomes all to the OKM musical family, noting that this year the international festival will celebrate the music of Italy, from “Respighi’s glorious ‘Pines of Rome’…to a semi-staged presentation of Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’” and more.
