Completing a college degree is one of those life defining moments. It is a major feat. Just over 20 percent of the population of the United States have earned a bachelors degree.
This important event should be shared with as many friends and family as possible. There are often barriers to having the special people in your life that have supported you along the way attend a graduation ceremony. Distance, schedules, space, etc.
With the advancement of technology we can now make your proud moment available to share live with all who want to celebrate with you!

Share the link with anyone you would like to be able to join in your upcoming graduation and they can cheer as you walk across the stage from wherever they are!

University sports programs are an integral part of any college experience. Just consider
Bedlam football games, the recent craziness over the new
NCAA scoring record by Jack Taylor, and then, of course, there is
March Madness. Suffice it to say, we love our athletic teams at OKWU too!
So in re-starting our website, it was time to upgrade our OKWU Eagles athletic site. The launch will happen this week. But we wanted to give you a sneak peek at what our team has come up with.
Check back at
okwu.edu/athletics in the next few days to see the new design and more importantly to keep up with our great student athletes!

This week is often set aside to reflect and share the many things we are thankful for and the blessings that we know that God has bestowed. We have been posting here about our website crash and “disaster”.
But we certainly know it’s not really on the scale of a true “disaster”.
Margaret Manning, in her post for
Ravi Zacharias‘ ministry,
Hard Wrought Thanks, says “
Wars and rumors of wars terrorize so many, and it is a wonder that it is even possible to give thanks for anything. Yet, to hear others giving thanks—particularly from those who struggle in circumstances where we would be stretched to find any reason for praise—always lends itself to beauty and indicates a gratefulness that transcends material bounty and benefit.”
Our challenges are small, but we are thankful. Our lives our blessed, but we are thankful. Some of us have intense struggles, but we are thankful!
We are taking the opportunity of Thanksgiving week to
share from the hearts of our faculty, staff and administration thoughts, scriptures and more that express the gratefulness we feel each and every day here at OKWU!

If you don’t already know, you can tell our site met the perfect storm and went into the abyss of cyberspace.

But we are back and forging ahead into new territory. Like a galaxy far, far away…
But just like Luke Skywalker needed Hans, Chewy and the Princess… we also have had to recruit a talented but maybe somewhat crazy team of folks working with us to come back in a new and
epic new way.
And yes, this does mean we are cautiously looking forward to
Star Wars VII
But back to our newly created team… they have already been hard at work behind the scenes (see
Ethan and his friend “Bob” at work) You will want to check back often to see the new updates and features they are adding.
So time to meet some of the team helping us break new ground in the web world for
OKWU
First up are a few of our super talented
Communications/Media Arts & Design Strategy students. They are jumping right into the project and becoming an essential part of this team. They are working on new banner designs, template coding, recreating content, a new Athletics section, and more.
Meet some of our team:

ICYMI [translation: In Case You Missed It]….
…our website did crash this past month. It was the perfect storm — not caused by Hurricane Sandy — but a disaster nonetheless. We were down and out and momentarily off the grid. But just ever so briefly. With the help of our great web team partners, Elevator Up, along with our amazing Media and Graphic Design lead faculty, David Cochran and his students, we rose from the ashes.
Dealing with the reality of starting over, we have decided to build our site a little differently. It’s definitely going to be a process. We restarted with OKWU “mini” … but it’s just the beginning … you’ll want to check back and join us in this process. As we create a new web site that will be more about creating a community [cause that's what OKWU really is all about]. Expect us to ask you to help out on occasion.
We’ll let Ethan tell you what happened and well, you’ll just have to watch….
