Description

The custodian performs janitorial and maintenance duties in and around campus facilities. This person will perform a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties in order to provide a clean, orderly, and safe environment on the campus.

This is a part-time position working up to 28 hours per week.

Supervision Given or Received

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Maintenance/Janitorial Manager.

Experience

Previous cleaning experience is preferred.

Examples of Work Preformed

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill toilet paper dispensers; other duties as required.
  • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
  • Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
  • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
  • Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
  • Report anything that needs to be fixed or replaced.
  •  Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
  • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs.
  • Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds.
  • Have essential physical capabilities such as lifting and bending.
  • Safely operate all vehicles and other job related equipment.
  • Enforce and support policies established by OKWU.
  • Other duties as assigned
