Once you have applied and been accepted to OKWU, you will need to apply for a FAFSA PIN and then fill out the FAFSA using your PIN. If you have already done this, great! If not, please take the time to create your PIN and fill out the FAFSA.
Once you have been accepted to OKWU and filled out the FAFSA, you will receive your Student Aid Report (SAR). Be sure to review the SAR carefully and make sure that all information has been filled out correctly.
Types of Aid
There are many types of financial aid. Before getting started, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the types of aid that can be applied for. The different types of aid are Grants, Loans, and Outside Scholarships. To read more about these in details, please visit the Types of Aid page.
Grants are a type of Financial Aid that do not need to be repaid. They are provided based on the needs of the student as determined by the FAFSA. To learn more about Grant, click here.
Loans are a type of Financial Aid that need to be repaid with interest. Loans are given on a needs based basis from both governmental and private sources. The need for each student is determined by the FAFSA. To learn more about Loans, click here.
Applying for Aid
Once you have been accepted into OKWU and have completed the FAFSA, you can begin applying for aid. To do so, complete the following financial aid application. After that, you will receive your financial aid award letter.
Your initial financial aid award letter is an estimate based on full-time enrollment. You will be offered federal, state, and OKWU aid for which you qualify, including but not limited to grants, work-study, and loans. You will need to sign and return the award letter to the Financial Aid Office to accept or decline the awards.
Your OKWU Financial Aid file will not be considered complete until you have submitted all necessary paperwork. Occasionally, additional forms will be required from you or your parent(s). In all cases, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure his/her file is complete.
Once you have accepted or declined the financial aid you wish to receive, you will be finished with your financial aid process and on your way to finishing your degree. Good job and God bless on your way to obtaining your degree.
