Applying for federal, state, and institutional aid is free. The most important thing to remember when applying is to complete your financial aid as soon as possible. We award aid to students who have been accepted to OKWU, so please apply for admission. Remember to make copies of everything you send to OKWU.
Apply to OKWU
Before Financial Aid can be awarded, our students must apply and be accepted by OKWU.
Apply for a PIN
Visit PIN.ed.gov to apply for a PIN for both the student and a parent of dependent students. The PIN is used to electronically sign the FAFSA and access federal student aid documents.
Complete the FAFSA
Visit the FAFSA website and submit 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You and your parent(s)/spouse’s (if applicable) 2012 income taxes will provide information needed to fill out the FAFSA. OKWU’s school code is 003151.
Review Student Aid Report (SAR)
You will receive your Student Aid Report (SAR). This report lists all information you submitted on the FAFSA. Our office uses that information to determine what, if any, financial aid you are eligible to receive. Read through your SAR carefully. Take note of any messages in the “Comments Section,” and be sure to check the data over for errors. You may make corrections to that information by following the SAR instructions or by entering them online.
Submit Verification Paperwork (if selected)
Your SAR may be selected by the Department of Education for a review process called “verification.” This is noted in the SAR with an * by the EFC and OKWU will also notify you by email. If your SAR is selected, you will be asked to provide additional paperwork which may include a Verification Worksheet, a Tax Transcript, or other items. Please be in communication with the Financial Aid Office if selected for verification.
