The Mission in Brief

Oklahoma Wesleyan Veritas Center for Faith, Freedom and Justice

Anchored in Bartlesville and the Oklahoma Wesleyan University community, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Veritas Center speaks to Oklahoma, to the nation, and to the world bringing biblical wisdom to bear on pivotal issues of contemporary life.

Ideas move men and nations. Sound ideas foster a free and morally responsible society; flawed ideas corrode it. As the living academic heart of the restored, historic La Quinta Mansion, the Center will examine the key ideas of our day in this light, through events, institutes, special speakers, and more.

Pressing our ear against the keyhole of history we hear the voice of our forefathers saying “Liberty is given by our Creator and slavery is constructed by man.” Their lessons teach us time and again that self-evident truth is the only context for justice and freedom and that without God’s objective standards as our rule and measure, men and women find innumerable ways to enslave themselves and each other while all the while waving a sanctimonious banner of personal choice and individual rights.

Ideas have consequences. Our ideas matter.

They always lead somewhere. The Center is a place to engage with the ideas and discussion of the direction they lead — either toward the liberty found in that which is right and just and real, or toward the slavery and ugly hell made of our own dysfunction.

Education matters!

Our ideas will either lead us to the hellish existence of the original sin where we suffer the consequences of our own arrogance or they will lead us to a heavenly joy where justice and liberty flourish, where we enjoy the freedom of living within the boundaries of what is Right and True, where we know because it is revealed to us by God, not because it is constructed by us (and the Serpent) as we seek to be God
