The students and faculty of the Communication Arts Program of Oklahoma Wesleyan University have just launched a major redesign of OKWUeagle.com, a website which serves the university’s students, faculty, and staff.

The new design strives to create a more exciting and enjoyable visual experience, while providing quicker access to essential campus information.

The site has a four-fold mission:
• to offer insight into the pursuit of a successful college career
• to ensure easy access to essential information and resources
• to provide visual glimpses into our campus life
• to give an expressive voice to our students’ creative energies

When asked about the new site, Vay Facione, OKWU Associate Registrar, said, “I refer callers to the site daily because I know they will be able to find what they need quickly and easily. The new update has given it a refreshing design that is even easier to use.”

This is not the first redesign. Originally launched in 2005, the site has received a fresh design approximately every 18 months.

“I love this project,” said David Cochran, Chair of the Communication Arts Program. “It provides a great opportunity for our students to show what they can do. With each redesign, you can see the growth in our students’ knowledge and skills.”

Senior Communication Arts major, Mariah Klumb, served as one of the lead designers for the site. “Being a part of a major website redesign was a great learning experience,” she said, “and, surprisingly, it was a lot of fun.”

“But we’re not done,” added Cochran. “What’s great about this new design is that it paves the way for a number of other enhancements we have in mind. Check back often. There is more to come.”
