REQUIREMENTS

Getting In

OKWU has requirements that act as the basis for student enrollment. Students who are entering directly from high school or have less than 23 hours from college must meet two of three:

  • Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or higher.
  • Score an 18 or higher on the ACT or 860 or higher on the SAT.
  • Graduate in the top half of your graduating class.
  • Students are admitted to OKWU without discrimination on the basis of race, color, nationality, creed, or sex providing they agree, in general, to the academic and social standards of the University. We do consider character and personal maturity, as well as intellectual ability and scholastic achievements, as criteria in accepting students.
Grade Point Average

Your GPA is the average grade you earned in one semester or academic term. You can figure out your GPA by dividing your grade points by the number of credits you attempted. Talk to an academic advisor at your school if you have questions about your GPA.

If you are a transfer student, you need to have an overall college GPA of 2.0 or higher.

ACT and SAT

The ACT and SAT are usually taken in the sophomore or junior year of high school. However, you can take either test whenever you want. You also may retake the test until you are satisfied with your score.

Rank in Class

Every high school will figure out the academic rankings of each year’s graduating class. To find out your rank, see your high school academic advisor or college counselor.
