TIPS FOR APPLYING TO COLLEGE
1. Be Proactive.
Being proactive means asking questions, applying early and not waiting until the last minute to get things done. Keep a to-do list and check off the forms you’ve sent in so that you will always know what is going on. There are so many applicants that forget to turn in a form, or miss a deadline.
2. Take Honors or College Credit Classes
Having taken honors courses help your application look better and the honors tests may help you finish your degree faster.
3. Take the ACT/SAT at Least Twice
A great ACT/SAT score can help you get into college and receive better scholarships. Many schools offer a practice ACT/SAT or help-sessions to prepare you for the test. These are great ways to make sure you do your best come test day. The best thing about the ACT/SAT is that you can take it until you are satisfied with your score.
4. Write a Great Essay
Most college applications require applicants to write an essay or answer questions in essay format. How well you write your essay (meaning grammar, spelling, penmanship, etc.) matters almost as much as what you write in your essay. Just have your parents review your answers or write a rough draft first.
