What does a Liberal Arts education mean?
A liberal arts college or university is a four-year institution that emphasizes a wide range of subjects in an effort to provide a well-rounded, balanced education. At OKWU, you will take classes in religion, humanities, science, math, social sciences plus all the classes within whatever major you decide.

What are the Wesleyan beliefs?
The Wesleyan Church is an evangelical, Protestant denomination. We offer the good news that faith in Jesus Christ makes possible a wonderful personal relationship with God, a holy life empowered by His Spirit for witness and service, and assurance of eternal life in heaven. Our name is in honor of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, whose emphasis on a life of faith, self-discipline, and perfect love is our example. Can I still take classes at OKWU if I am not of the Wesleyan faith?
Yes, our current students and faculty represent over 25 different denominations.
Is Chapel attendance mandatory?
Yes, we do ask that all students attend Chapel. But we do understand when a student is sick or has to be off campus – so we ask that students attend more than 80% of the chapels each semester.
I don’t have a computer, are there computers on campus I can use?
Yes. We have computer labs located in the library, science building, and Doc Lacy’s, our on-campus coffee house.
What is there to do at OKWU?
OKWU has a great Social Life Staff that organizes fun and exciting events on the weekends. Some events include “Create-a-Date”, “Ultimate Spoons”, “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Gong Show.” Also, a lot of our students also participate in a variety of intramural sports – where students get together with friends and peers to compete in activities from Campus Golf to Ultimate Frisbee.
