Earning your BS in Ministry & Leadership

OKWU understands the need to equip people in ministry positions with the knowledge and resources to reach out to their community and to our world. The is a very real need for relevant degrees for Church leadership. Our Ministry and Leadership program gives adults empowering, faith-based learning, needed for effective church leadership.

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Ministry and Leadership is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective church ministry, parachurch ministry and the administration of both. Whether you are pursuing an online ministry degree or attending classes in person, this program will allow you to continue working in your home church while providing you with the leadership and biblical education you desire.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from Oklahoma Wesleyan University with the Bachelor of Science in Ministry and Leadership degree a student must complete the following criteria:

  • A total of 126 credit hours consisting in the completion of:
    46 hours of Core Ministry Curriculum
    45 hours of General Education
    35 hours of Electives
  • At least 40 hours of Core Curriculum courses must be completed through OKWU AGS
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

Articulation Agreements

OKWU has a number of articulation agreements for the transfer of credits of on-ground or online ministry programs from non-regionally accredited colleges and career schools like Community Care College, RHEMA, TriCounty Tech, and Victory Bible Institute. Check with your enrollment representative for more details.

Program Progression

  • Students must complete each core course with a 2.0 grade or better
  • Students whose core GPA falls below 2.0 will be place on academic probation for the next term
  • Students must comply with the program attendance policies to continue the program

On campus & online

Admission Requirements

  • Students not entering with an Associate’s degree must submit proof of a high school diploma or GED
  • Official transcripts verifying a minimum of 45 transferable college credit hours (A maximum of 72 semester credit hours may be transferred from a two-year college. Transcripts are required from all colleges attended.)
  • An overall grade point average of 2.0 in previous college work (Applicants with a GPA below 2.0 may be admitted on a conditional basis.)


  • Students whose first language is not English (unless a US citizen) must have a TOEFL score of 69 or higher
  • Students must either own or have access to a computer with internet capabilities
