MARION RESEVOIR, Kan. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s and men’s cross country teams competed at the Tabor College Invitational held at the Marion Reservoir in Kansas.
The Lady Eagles finished in fifth place as a team, out of the six teams running at the Invitational. The Oklahoma Wesleyan men finished the day in sixth place, out of a possible seven teams.
Individually, Leah Gabler finished in 14th place in a pack made up of 42 runners for the women’s race. Gabler crossed the finish line with a time of 21:54.02. Kelli Tjon crossed the line with a time of 22:34.21, which was good enough for 19th place overall. On the men’s side, Nathan Tripp was the overall winner finishing with a time of 27:34.49 and earning the first place medal. Freshman, Duke Davenport, finished his first career collegiate race in 28th place overall, out of 52 runners, with a time of 31:52.46.

“Nathan and Leah had very good races Friday night at Tabor. Our freshman guys did well for their first 8k race, Duke Davenport, Myles Gladen, and Reagan Terral.” said Coach Eric Schwab. “The teams gave an excellent effort and we should have some good individual improvements between now and the conference championship.”
The next meet for Oklahoma Wesleyan will be on October 8th, as they’ll travel to Clarksville, Arkansas, for the University of the Ozarks Invitational.
