Lady Eagles battle to conference wins on the road

Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s basketball team is slowly building momentum at the right time and if the performances over the weekend were any indication of what is to come, then the fans are set for a treat in the coming weeks.

The Lady Eagles extended its undefeated streak in conference play with wins over Waldorf College and York College on the road, as well improved its overall record in the process.

On Friday, the Mark Molder led team edged Waldorf College 71-70, following a game winning three-pointer from Megan Jones.

“[The] girls showed grit and Godly meekness! commented head coach Molder following the close battle with Waldorf College.

Megan Jones delivered a champion-like performance on Friday after finishing with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Junior transfer also knocked down the game winning three-pointer with four-seconds left in the game.

Her twin sister Delaney Jones was just as impressive on the night – finishing with 18 points.

She shot 60-percent from the field and from three-point range after knocking 6-of-10 from behind the arc.

Nichole Tate added 14 points in the win as well.


The Lady Eagles, completed the road trip with a 70-61 victory over York College, following the five hour trip to Nebraska.

It was Tate, who led the way this time with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Delaney Jones added 12 points in the battling win.

Megan Jones had 11 points and Shelby GrahamĀ chipped in with 10 for Oklahoma Wesleyan, which have now won six in a row and are 4-0 in MCAC.

The Lady Eagles (12-3) are second in the conference standings behind College of the Ozarks (16-2).
