The Lady Eagles started their 2019 portion of the season on the road as they traveled to York, NE to face off against KCAC opponent York College.They started off the game on a strong note as they quickly jumped out to 40-12 lead at half-time and never looked back. They saw their lead grow to as many as 38 points and would go on to secure their victory by a margin of 77-46.
Sophomore guard Danae Goodwin led the Eagles on offense with 15 points, 5 rebounds and did not miss from beyond the 3-point line finishing a perfect 3/3 on the day. Junior forward Ashley Cook also made her presence known on the offensive end as she finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds. The Lady Eagles were dialed in as they shot 42% overall from the field as well as beyond the 3-point arc. OKWU’s defense was also locked in on the defensive end as they held York to just 23% from the field. With the win they improve their overall season record to 9-6 and 5-5 in conference play.
The Lady Eagles will host their first home game of 2019 against Ottawa University on Saturday, January 5th at 3 PM. All fans wearing OKWU colors or gear will get in for only $1 for OKWU’s Community Appreciation Weekend.
