BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Top-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan secured a 3-1 victory over (RV) Southwestern Christian University on Tuesday night.
In the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll released Tuesday afternoon, OKWU held on to the No. 1 spot while Southwestern Christian was receiving votes.
The Eagles had three different players score in the contest. Leonardo Machado, Aleksandar Simovic, and Michael Chew each recorded goals in the 3-1 win. Simovic also recorded an assist in the game while Vinicious Sanchez and Alberto Picchi were responsible for the other two assists.
As a team, No. 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan put up a total of 12 shots with six of those on target. Southwestern Christian was held to just six total shots with their goal coming on a penalty kick late in the game. Dusan Djordjev, who was recently named National Defensive Player of the Week, started in goal for OKWU and collected two saves.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will make their way to Chickasha, Oklahoma for their next match against the University of Science & Arts. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 16th.
