BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The fifth-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball team shut out Ecclesia College on Monday afternoon 13-0 at Doenges Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles pitching staff combined for a one-hit shutout while the hitters scored eight first-inning runs en route to the victory over the Royals.
Colton Kelly led the way at the plate as he hit his second home run of the season after going 1-for-2 with two RBI’s and two runs scored. Nick McGrew went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s and three runs scored, while catcher Juan De La Cruz compiled two hits in three at-bats and two RBI’s. Isaac Schueller came off the bench and knocked in two runs on a single in the 5th inning in his only at-bat.
No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan recorded an On-Base Percentage of .693 as they collected nine hits and nine walks in 26 total at-bats.
Two-way player Tyson Cronin made the start on the mound and went five innings while striking out two batters and allowing just one hit. Jordan Hill and Landon Williams came into relief to shut down the game for the Eagles.
The Eagles will continue the homestand this weekend when they host Central Christian College for a four-game series on Friday and Saturday. First pitch for Game 1 on Friday is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
