Softball Falls to Science & Arts in NAIA Opening Round Double-Elimination Tournament

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan softball team dropped their opening game in the NAIA Opening Round tournament to the University of Science & Arts, 3-0.

The Lady Eagles were unable to collect a hit in the contest and committed five errors from the field.

Ashleigh Capps started in the circle for Oklahoma Wesleyan and pitched all six innings giving up just one earned run and striking out six batters. The opposing pitcher, Emily Cerny, pitched a complete game no-hitter for the Drovers.

With the loss, No. 4 OKWU will face No. 2 Jamestown (N.D.) on Tuesday, May 15th, at 1:00 pm from the Dodge City Bracket in Dodge City, Kan. If the Lady Eagles win, they will play again at 3:00 pm against the winner of No. 1 Science & Arts and No. 3 Midland.
