The Lady Eagles went on an offensive explosion Monday afternoon as they took care of the OKC Stars 9-1 at home. OKWU dominated the game from the first whistle and attacked the OKC goal early and often as they nearly doubled the shots on goal compared to the Stars (23-12) throughout the game. Sophomore forward Rayssa Souza and Junior midfielder Marjolen Nekesa led the way for the Eagles’ offense as they were a part of 8 of the 9 total goals for the day.
Souza was dialed in from the jump as she carved up the backline of the Stars and collected 4 goals in the first half. She would then go on to collect two more in the second half for her first double hat-trick of her career as an Eagle along with an assist. Nekesa made her presence known as well as she found the back of the net twice on an assist from Laura Maria in the first half and Souza in the second along with collecting 3 assist on the day. Freshman Daniela Ortiz also jumped in on the scoring frenzy as she collected her first goal of her college career on a crisp pass from senior Taylor Gross.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, September 19th as they will host Southwestern Christian University at the OKWU Soccer Complex at 6 PM.
