Oklahoma Wesleyan’s men’s soccer team earned the right to take a trip to Montgomery, Ala., in early December. OKWU dispatched Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) 4-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship.
It was the third consecutive trip to the NAIA Tournament, but the first time OKWU has moved on to the final site.
Eagles coach Jamie Peterson said his boys are happy, but aware of where they are in the playoff journey.
“Our goal is still not reached, but I think everybody is still pretty excited,” Peterson said. ”This is one of the smaller goals that you have to reach to be able to get to the big one.
“And I think that every is pretty geared up and ready to go and just wanting to get to Alabama and get this thing started.”
