VB Collects Win on the Road Over York

Bartlesville, Okla. – The Lady Eagles Volleyball team traveled all the way to York, NE Tuesday, October 29th for a KCAC matchup against the York College Panthers. OKWU fell behind early in the match as they dropped the first set 19-25, but would go on to sweep the next three 25-23, 25-23, & 25-13.

Laine Alves led the attack for the Eagles as she collected 17 kills and 2 blocks on the day. Kenadee Valdez also added in 10 kills and 5 blocks at the net for OKWU. Setters Elli Matos-Torres and Ashley Cook placed distributed the offense beautifully as Matos-Torres had 24 assists and 10 digs, while Cook added in 18 assists of her own. Libero Bobana Marusic led a stingy defense for OKWU as she collected 27 digs throughout the match. RS Sophomore Bethany Balenti also made her presence known on the defense as she had 17 digs of her own.

With the win, the Lady Eagles improve their overall record to 17-11 and a conference record of 4-5. They will be back in action on Saturday, November 2nd as they welcome KCAC opponent Friend University to the Mueller Sports Center for Senior Day. The JV match is set to begin at 12:30 PM with the Varsity starting at 2 PM and the Senior Day activities to follow.
