BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball earned a dominant 96-67 victory over Bethany College on Wednesday night.
Josh Wilchcombe continued his stellar play on both ends of the court as he recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. The reigning KCAC Defensive Player of the Week the past two weeks has now colled nine or more rebounds in eight of his fourteen games played this season.
With the win, No. 20 OKWU now sits just one game back of first place in the KCAC as Southwestern lost their game at Saint Mary. The Eagles are tied for second with Kansas Wesleyan holding a conference record of 13-6.
KJ Malveau was the other Eagle to lead the team in scoring as he compiled 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from behind the arc and also dished out five assists. Jake Feickert sank three triples on his way to 11 points, as he is now fourth in the nation in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage at 50 percent (60/120). Isaac Rowe finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Breiman Alexander came off the bench and added 11 points and five rebounds.
As a team, the Eagles outrebounded the Swedes on the glass by a 50 to 29 margin. They forced Bethany into 19 turnovers and also collected seven blocks in the game.
Isiah Saenz led Bethany in scoring with a game-high 22 points.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will hit the road for their next game on Saturday, February 10th, as they face Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas. Tip-off against the Bluejays is scheduled for 7:00 pm inside Tabor Gymnasium.
