BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – (Bracket) (Championship Schedule) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the teams and pairings for the 2017 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round. The Oklahoma Wesleyan women’s soccer team will host an opening round match for the first time in school history on Saturday, November 18th against Lindsey Wilson College (KY) at 3:00 PM at the OKWU Soccer Complex.
The 2017 NAIA Opening Round winners and host Mobile (Ala.) will meet up in Orange Beach, Alabama, at the NAIA National Championship final site event. The 34th annual championship takes place at the Orange Beach Sportsplex from November 27th – December 2nd.
The Lady Eagles, who solidified an automatic bid to the 2017 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round after winning the KCAC regular season totle, head into the 2017 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round with a 19-1-1 record on the year. OKWU currently ranks 5th in the NAIA in Total Shutouts (14.0), 8th in Goals per Game (3.9), and 17th in Assists per Game (2.7). The team has outscored their opponenets 82-11 on the season and have only allowed two goals since September 29th.
Lindsey Wilson, who earned an automatic bid after winning the Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 1-0 win over Cumberland (Tenn.). The Blue Raiders head into the 2017 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Champioship Opening Round with a 10-5-3 record and are making their 19th all-time appearance into the national tournament.
This year’s opening round field includes 24 automatics qualifiers, six at-arge selections and one host berth.
The NAIA Netowork — the association’s official video streaming home — will broadcast all 15 matches live at the 2017 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship final site in Orange Beach, Ala.
