This morning, another ribbon was cut, commemorating another beautiful new building on Oklahoma Wesleyan University’s campus. The ceremony, honoring Charles and Janice Drake and the opening of the new dorm, appropriately named Drake Hall, was held this morning.

Dr. Piper shared how the Drakes have supported and spearheaded many of the recent projects on campus, but this project is especially close to their heart. They care about Oklahoma Wesleyan University students and believe in their potential and capabilities. When the couple is asked why they support OKWU, they cannot say enough positive things about this university. The Drakes strongly believe that OKWU is the place for the leaders of tomorrow to be trained and raised up. Janice Drake calls OKWU, the “beacon to the nation.”

Scott Ambler, the architect of the beautiful dorm, was at the ceremony as well as representatives from Boldt Construction, and both were honored for their masterful job. The new dorm, Drake Hall, is not a typical dorm. The grand staircase, vaulted ceiling and spacious sitting room of Drake Hall, make the building feel more like a home than dormitory.

Even with the rainy weather, more students, faculty and staff came than could fit in the building, and immediately following the briefceremony students began moving in. The official dedication ceremony will be held in October with the OKWU Board of Trustees.
