A federal judge Monday gave temporary relief to Oklahoma Wesleyan University and three other Christian universities in the state in their lawsuit against the federal government over the Affordable Care Act.

The universities contend that the contraception mandate of the new health-care reform law violates their freedom of religion by requiring them to provide abortion-inducing drugs to their employees as part of their health insurance package….

…”All Oklahoma Wesleyan is asking for is that we be free from unjust government demands that we either abandon our Christian faith and practice or face massive fines,” said Everett Piper, president of Oklahoma Wesleyan. “In America, our government is supposed to protect freedom, not attack it. So we are very pleased that the court, in its first act in the case, decided to protect that freedom while the case moves forward.”
