For Oklahoma Wesleyan University’s Class of 2018, graduation is quickly approaching, and the University is pleased to welcome a special commencement speaker to help them celebrate. Sam Sorbo is an actress, author, activist, and radio personality known for her quick wit, voracious work ethic, and strong commitment to principle.
After high school in Pittsburgh, PA, Sam studied biomedical engineering at Duke University before pursuing a career in modeling. Modeling offered her the chance to travel and learn languages; she is fluent in five. Sam moved to Los Angeles for acting, where dedication and perseverance gained her roles in several films and TV shows, including Chicago Hope and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Hercules introduced her to actor Kevin Sorbo, who swept her off her feet. They were married in 1998 and now have three children.
Today, Sorbo is the host of the nationally syndicated Sam Sorbo Show. She speaks publicly around the country and recently appeared in the movies “Hope Bridge”, “Just Let Go”, and most recently “Let There Be Light”, which she also co-wrote.
“We’re honored to have Sam join us to celebrate OKWU’s graduates this year,” said President Dr. Everett Piper. “She’s a great leader, communicator, and woman of faith. We’re thankful for her support of the University.”
This year’s commencement ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 12th, on the OKWU Bartlesville campus, in the Lyon Chapel and Fine Arts Center. The residential undergraduate ceremony will be at 10:30 AM and the Adult and Graduate Studies ceremony will be at 2:30 PM. To watch live, visit www.okwu.edu/graduation.
