Mission & Passion
Whether studying historic American public debates or the latest trends in web design, I work to equip students with the best thinking and practices in communication while never forgetting our responsibilities to our neighbors, near and far. Communication carries consequences. My object is to prepare communicators to walk into the marketplace, reach an audience, and make a difference — the best possible kind of difference.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others.” – Jesus, Matthew 23:23
“Our gracious Creator cares and provides for all his creatures. His tender mercies are over all his works; and so far as his love influences our minds, so far we become interested in his workmanship and feel a desire to take hold of every opportunity to lessen the distresses of the afflicted and increase the happiness of the creation. Here we have a prospect of one common interest from which our own is inseparable — that to turn all the treasures we possess into the channel of universal love becomes the business of our lives.” – John Woolman, 1764
