Job Role
Are you passionate about crafting compelling stories and have a love for the Oxford comma? We’re looking for a creative communicator with a knack for storytelling and social media expertise to join OKWU’s Creative Impact team. You’ll be responsible for shaping and executing content strategies while ensuring a consistent brand voice across all communication channels.
As a key member of the Creative Impact team, you will capture and share university stories, manage social media content, and translate messaging across print and digital platforms. You will also coordinate and manage the content calendar; planning, executing, and analyzing campaigns to meet objectives on multiple platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
Content Strategist – Creating, planning, executing, and analyzing communication campaigns to achieve specific goals. Proactively communicate with collaborators, efficiently manage time with multiple timelines, and adapt to changes on a fast-paced team.
Social Media Platforms – Engage and grow our audience by managing online conversations, staying up-to-date with trends, and optimizing content for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
Storytelling Savvy – Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for storytelling across platforms and audiences. Strong communication skills to effectively convey messages and maintain a consistent brand voice and image (e.g. posts, captions. and articles).
Examples of Work Performed
- Maintain and elevate a cohesive brand voice that aligns with the university’s mission.
- Write content for social media, blogs, web pages, and both long and short-form stories.
- Develop and manage a content calendar in collaboration with team members.
- Create, grow, and maintain social networks, engaging with our audience and fostering community.
- Analyze engagement data, identify trends, and plan digital campaigns to build and nurture our online presence.
- Produce and publish weekly content across various platforms.
- Conduct interviews and write stories for multiple projects.
- Research industry-related topics and generate content ideas that make OKWU stand out.
- Proofread, edit, and refine existing content.
- Curate visually appealing content, including graphics, videos, and written copy.
- Optimize content for SEO, ensuring keywords, headings, and links are effectively used.
- Act as a liaison with local media outlets to maximize OKWU’s reach and strengthen relationships.
- Support other tasks and special projects as needed, including occasional work outside normal office hours for events and interviews.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, email marketing, and content management systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Quick learner, with the ability to master new software (e.g., ClickUp, CoSchedule, MailChimp, Grammarly, WordPress, Canva, Teams).
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or equivalent experience.
- Experience in social media, communication, journalism, and/or marketing
- Portfolio of sample writings and/or social media accounts curated.

The Creative Impact team serves all areas of university branding, marketing, and communications. Our united mission is to elevate OKWU’s brand through meaningful communication, engagement, and innovation in the Christian higher education marketplace.
