Description
Working under the supervision of the Director of Daily Operations for Student Services, the Student Services GA works closely with his or her supervisors to execute practical tasks for Student Services. Student Services includes the Cashier, Office of Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounts. This position requires a friendly, pleasant personality, diplomacy and tact, the abilities to maintain confidentiality, work independently, prioritize, and organize, engage in strategic planning, and project management, and the capacity to complete tasks with limited oversight and independent judgment. Computer skills and attention to detail are essential. This position also requires flexibility of hours worked.
Supervision Given or Received
Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Daily Operations for Student Services with general supervision by the VP of Business Affairs.
Education Requirements & Qualifications
- A personal and vital Christian faith consistent with the mission of the university.
- A bachelor’s degree, master’s or equivalent training and experience is required.
- Significant computer literacy is required.
- A record of successful work experience in an academic setting is preferred.
Examples of Work Performed

- Welcomes students and guests into the Student Services Office and directs to appropriate staff for assistance
- Assists students with general questions related to Student Services
- Screens and evaluates incoming and outgoing email, mail, and phone calls and prepares responses as appropriate
- Schedules appointments and coordinates office meetings and locations
- Prepares communications such as emails, office signage, campus notices, and other correspondences related to Student Services
- Trains and provides supervision to work-study students, including daily tasks, schedules, and timesheets, and addresses any employee issues
- Maintains general knowledge of appropriate university policies and procedures to act as a one-stop-shop while providing the highest customer service to our students
- Oversees record maintenance and archival processing
- Assist the Registrar, Financial Aid and Student Accounts Offices with projects
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Daily Operations for Student Services
- Work Winter and Spring Commencement events
- Work university-wide special events when called upon by the Office of the President
Requirements for GA:
- Registered and enrolled in an OKWU graduate degree.
- Good academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Record of leadership ability
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Basic computer literacy.
