Divine calling to shepherd the Church

The Pastoral Ministry/Biblical and Theological Studies program is designed for those who plan to serve in pastoral roles at the local church level. Deeply grounded in the authority of Scripture, this major includes studies of the Bible, Christian theology, and the practice of pastoral ministry. Upon completion of this program, students will also have met all requirements for ordination by The Wesleyan Church.

Grounded in Scripture and Prepared for Pastoral Ministry

Pastoral Ministry students at OKWU are given biblical and pastoral training as well as hands-on experiences in ministry settings.  Graduates with Pastoral Ministry major/minor may find job opportunities in the following areas:

  • Pastoral staff of mid-size or large congregations
  • Discipleship and/or outreach program direction
  • Church planting
  • Christian Education
  • Preparation for graduate study
  • Para-church ministry
  • Lead pastor of a small congregation
