Jake Feickert

Admissions Counselor

Jake Feickert

I was born in South Dakota, raised in Nebraska, and graduated high school from Flower Mound High School in Dallas, Texas. The son of two amazing followers of Christ, I originally came to OKWU in the fall of 2015 to play basketball, but quickly realized that God had a much greater calling on my life.

During my time here at OKWU, I have re-committed my life to Christ, discovered God’s purpose for me, and met an amazing southern belle who is now my wife. I am excited to be able to continue my stay here in the Admissions office and continue to grow God’s Kingdom. The mission field that God has called me to remains the same: students. We have the amazing opportunity to reach students all over the country and tell them about a place where Jesus Christ is Lord. It makes me super excited.

Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

The best part about my job is…

My favorite thing about being an admissions counselor is that I get to connect to students from all walks of life. I am able to help students navigate the stressful college search by showing them the love of Christ.

My favorite place to hang out on campus is…

I love hanging out in Doc Lacy’s coffee shop. Seeing all the students that I have been blessed enough to form connections with, studying, playing board games, and sharing in fellowship with others is so rewarding.

OKWU is special because…

The intentional relationships and overflow of support from staff, faculty, administration, student leaders, and other students. We TRULY care about a student succeeding here at OKWU. Each student that steps on to campus is a child of God with a name, past, and future story to tell. OKWU serves as a place to help guide that story and magnify it, while growing in their faith to go become the most successful person they can in the career field that they choose.

I’d tell a prospective OKWU student…

Come and visit the campus. God has an almost funny way of putting a feeling of home on the campus that he wants you to be at. The next step is listening to that voice and going to the place that you feel the most comfortable at. Whether that is OKWU or another college, don’t run from God’s calling on your life. He is way bigger than any education that you will receive, so go visit as many places as possible… and make sure that OKWU is included in those visits!

When I’m not working, I like to…

I love hanging out with my wife doing crazy spontaneous things. I am also a HUGE CrossFit fan. I love hanging out in the gym and continuing to get more and more in shape. I’m an active volunteer with the City Church Youth Group here in Bartlesville, and on the weekends you will find me screaming for my beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers or at one of the OKWU sporting events.
