Jonathan Stewart
Dr. Jonathan Stewart received his B.M. from Southeast Missouri State University, his M.M. from Southern Illinois University, and his D.M.A. in Music Education from Boston University. He’s a passionate, energetic presence in the classroom, and serves OKWU as the director of Chorale, Relentless, and OKWU’s Instrumental Ensemble.
“I think music is a very specific kind of major. You really have to feel called because you’re not going to be making the highest income, unless you’re one of those rare people who goes out and becomes a super successful performer… You have to feel called to do it. If you feel called to do something like music, you aren’t going to get training like this away from OKWU. We have strong, well-qualified professors who are passionate in what they do and who have been successful out in the world.”
