General Science
Broad knowledge base. Advanced opportunity.
OKWU’s Bachelor of Science in General Science provides students an opportunity to study a broad range of scientific disciplines and achieve a general understanding of the scientific world. Rather than picking one specialty to major in, this interdisciplinary approach offers flexibility and breadth, exposing students to the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology.
This major can also prepare students for admission into a variety of graduate and advanced professional programs, like nursing, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, education, and even medical school. With additional courses outside the sciences, OKWU’s General Science program can be a viable choice for preparation for graduate work in business, law, and media, where a background in the natural sciences can be immensely valuable.
Why OKWU?
Our students study under experienced professionals in the fields of science and mathematics who are committed to integrating real-world research with classroom curriculum. The General Science program offers students the opportunity to gain practical knowledge through undergraduate research opportunities, including our Caney River Experiments on Water (CREW), connections with the Tulsa Zoo, and connections with the Sutton Avian Center.
Graduates of OKWU’s General Science program have career opportunities in technical science, clinical lab services, pharmacology, education, science and technology writing, the medical fields, and even forensic science.
