Oklahoma Wesleyan University is pleased to announce this year’s Alumni and Friends Award recipients, to be honored at Homecoming and Family Weekend on October 27-28, 2017. This year, OKWU will be honoring 1966 alumnus, Darrell Allison, 2002 alumnus Michael Colaw, alums and employees, Mark (2000, 2010) and Kandi (McNaney, 1999) Molder, and Family Research Council President, Dr. Tony Perkins.

darrell and norva allisonAllison has been named the 2017 Outstanding Service Alumnus, an honor in the Orange Scott Service award category. This award recognizes an individual for outstanding service to the church, community and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. This year, OKWU extends the award to Allison in recognition of his service as an alumnus, former OKWU Board member, Global Partners Kansas district director, and his mission work in Ecuador and around the world.

 

colaw familyMichael Colaw, the pastor of Trinity Church in Indianapolis, is the 2017 Young Alumnus of the Year. This award recognizes an alumnus, under the age of 40, for outstanding service to the church, community, and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Colaw was nominated for his commitment to the OKWU mission and for his service to the Wesleyan Church through ministry as a youth and young adult pastor, and now senior pastor.

 

molder familyThe Molders will receive the 2017 Outstanding Service Oklahoma Wesleyan Award. This award recognizes OKWU staff members for exemplary service to the University and the community. This year, the award was extended to both the Molders in recognition of the 10 years of service to OKWU students, through advising students, assisting families, coaching, inviting students to their home, initiating community service, and more.

The 2017 President’s Award will honor Dr. Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. This award is always a special selection by the OKWU President.   Dr. Piper selects someone who supports and serves the University in extraordinary ways. Dr. Perkins was selected for his partnership and belief in the University’s mission.

Oklahoma Wesleyan will honor these individuals throughout Homecoming & Family Weekend this fall, beginning with Homecoming Chapel on Friday, October 27th, and culminating with the President’s Awards Brunch on Saturday, October 28th.
