Prof Lisa Riggs with background

Lisa Riggs

Associate Professor of English and Literature

Drake Library 219

Lisa Riggs

Dr. Lisa Riggs attended OKWU as an undergraduate student, and the experience had a profound impact on her Christian faith. Since then, she’s made it her mission to integrate that Christian faith with her passion for literature and seeks to make the same impact on her students that her own professors made on her.

Riggs received her B.A. from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and her M.A. and Ph.D. both from the University of Tulsa.

“I would like my students to recognize the value literature has in humanizing us and making us better humans: making us more empathetic and giving them some life experience without them having to go through all the struggle and the error and the failure.”
