Patti Ghere
Professional Background
I have worked at OKWU for 15 years and 5 years at ORU working with continuing education and working adult populations. I resonate with the “working adult” student, as I was one myself. I have been online support initially in the Adult & Graduate Studies, and have moved into different roles as needed. I became Director of Academic Resources, to indicate that my role and staff covered OKWU, not just one set of students. I enjoy working with our faculty and students. In my current role, I continue to work with both faculty, students and staff to ensure OKWU offers relevant courses for students to get the skills they need to be competitive in the workplace.

How does your work contribute to OKWU’s mission?
My work involves training faculty. They are the forefront of OKWU engaging with students. Quality faculty helps OKWU meet its mission by showing Christ to all students.
How do you integrate faith into your teaching or daily work?
Treating students, faculty and staff with humility and kindness allows me to connect Biblical teaching with those around me.
What makes OKWU a special place to you?
OKWU is a special place as we live out God’s Word every day. We do not need to hide our faith in order to keep our job. God’s hand is on OKWU and we continue to be blessed as we show Christ to our communities.
What advice would you give to a prospective student?
Expect to be challenged. Not in a mean way, but understand that faculty will push them to review what they believe and why, as well as understanding the world around them.
