Align Your Work with Your Calling

Career planning often starts with skill assessments and job searches, but for followers of Christ, it begins with calling.

At Oklahoma Wesleyan University, we believe your career is not separate from your faith. It’s one of the most tangible ways God works through you to serve, lead, and influence others. When you see your work as part of His Kingdom purpose, every task (big or small) takes on deeper meaning. Whether you’re advancing in your field, considering a degree, or praying about a career change, here are a few practical ways to bridge the gap between your faith and your career:

  1. Start with who you are. Remember who you are before what you do. Spend time reflecting on the strengths and passions God has given you and consider how they can serve others.
  2. Pray through every step. Before updating your resume or applying for your next role, take a moment to pray over your goals. Ask God to open doors that align with His purpose and close the ones that don’t.
  3. Lead with Integrity. Faith in action looks like consistency in character. In meetings, projects, and leadership decisions, integrity builds trust and points others to Christ. The way you work daily can be one of your greatest witnesses.
