Oklahoma Wesleyan University held its Spring 2023 graduation festivities over the weekend.

More than 100 graduates received degrees at Saturday’s Commencement ceremony, while at Friday night’s Celebration Service, the 2022-23 faculty and student awards were announced. Earlier on Friday, the Nurse Pinning Ceremony was held for graduates of OKWU’s nursing program. Dr. Jonathan Ensor spoke to the graduates at Commencement on Saturday.

“The prayer Wendy and I have for our graduates is that they will be sent from Oklahoma Wesleyan University to influence, even fix this world for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Our students are like family to us and we are proud of how they will represent Jesus through His calling on each of their lives.” – Dr. Jim Dunn, President

2022-23 Faculty Awards

Four awards were announced for members of OKWU’s faculty and staff. Dr. Rosa Ketchum received the Excellence in Teaching Award, while Sandy Lynn was given the Promising Teacher Award. OKWU’s student government also bestowed honors; Dr. Jonathan Ensor received Faculty of the Year, while Alex Young was named Staff Member of the Year.

“Commencement is always a moment of mixed emotions. I’m excited to see how our graduates will advance the kingdom of Jesus. I’m proud of them for finishing this leg of the race, and I’m somewhat sad to see them leave. When they are here, they become a part of our hearts and a part of OKWU. Our moments and memories become intertwined. When they walk across the stage, we are celebrating them, yes. But we are also celebrating the goodness and grace of Jesus. We are waving His banner high for His sovereignty and faithfulness.” – Dr. Keri Bostwick, Provost
