OKWU WEATHER ALERT

Monday, January 22, 2024: On-campus night classes are moved to remote instruction for Monday, Jan. 22 due to icy conditions.

Urgent: Students are required to complete Course Verification Survey for all courses ASAP. If incomplete after Wednesday, they will be dropped from the course(s).

The cafeteria will serve hot food lines 11:30-12:30 PM and 5-6 PM, the grill will be open 11:30-6 PM. Campus services remain available.

Essential workers should report to campus as directed. All other staff should use discretion, prepare for remote work, or use PTO, as directed by their supervisors.

Emergency Communications System

Your safety is a top priority for OKWU, and one of the most important tools in any emergency is swift communication. OKWU has the capacity to send emergency alert messages via text, email, or voice message to your mobile device in order to provide you with direct and timely information in case of an emergency. These messages will be important to safeguard your personal safety.

What is the OKWU emergency communications system?

In the event of a serious emergency, this system will contact registered students, faculty, and staff within minutes of a serious emergency.

How does the emergency system work?

OKWU’s emergency communications service is a web-based application that sends real-time emergency messages to registered users. The service contacts you via your cell phone and email.

Will the system be tested on a regular basis?

Yes. The service will be tested once each semester to ensure that the system is working correctly and to remind the OKWU community of the service.

When will the service be used?

OKWU’s emergency communications service will only be used in the event of an emergency.

Will it be used for important school informational updates?

Yes. The service will be used for that purpose as well.

Will OKWU charge for this service?

No. There is no charge for this service.

Do I need to register for this service?

No. You don’t need to register for this service. Students, faculty, and staff are automatically enrolled.
