Heidi Messer joined the staff of Oklahoma Wesleyan in May 2022 and is entering her first season as head coach of the women’s basketball program.
Messer, who is originally from Waynesville, Ohio, played four years at the collegiate level. She attended Sinclair Community College for two years before attending Grace College, where she played two years and served as team captain during her senior season. She recorded the eighth-most assists in program history while at Grace.
Messer brings a wealth of coaching experience to the job. She received her graduate degree from Georgetown College (Ky.) where she was a graduate assistant for two seasons. In 2012, Georgetown advanced to the NAIA Fab 4. From 2012-2014 she was an assistant coach and the Senior Woman Administrator at Manchester University. In 2015, she joined the staff at the University of Montevallo, where she remained until 2017. From 2017 until joining the OKWU staff, Messer was an assistant coach and the women’s basketball strength and conditioning coach at Northeastern State in Oklahoma. Messer also served as a coach of a USA Sports Team that toured Brazil in the summer of 2021.
